Hawaii’s Unemployment Rate Remains at 4.1% in May

Rate Steady for Five Months

HONOLULU — The Hawaii State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations (DLIR) today announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May was 4.1 percent, the same as in the preceding four months. Statewide, 648,750 were employed and 27,400 unemployed in May for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 676,200. Nationally, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5 percent in May, up from 5.4 percent in April.
