HONOLULU — Due to the suspension of federal government services throughout the first half of October, the release of employment and unemployment data for September 2013 has been delayed until the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) issues a revised production schedule. The September information had been scheduled for release on Oct. 22.
The Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Research and Statistics Office works closely with the BLS to produce the monthly unemployment rate and employment information. The federal government shutdown included the BLS, and vital data needed for calculating Hawaii’s job figures for September are unavailable. Revised schedules will be issued as they become available.
