The Hawai‘i Civil Rights Commission (HCRC) office was closed pursuant to a “Slow the Spread of COVID-19” 15 day stay at home directive starting on March 18, 2020, and subsequently extended through April 30, 2020. With the extension of the COVID-19 stay at home directive beyond the original 15 day period starting on March 18, we reassessed the need to restore services critical to the HCRC’s civil rights law enforcement mission.
The HCRC office has reopened to provide partial restoration of services, with the capacity to provide assistance and information, assess and prioritize inquiries, conduct intakes, accept complaint filings and effect service of complaints, with reduced staffing to maintain social distancing requirements. These services will be provided via telephone, fax and e-mail. No in person public contact will occur.
